This same event is taking place in over 90 cities throughout the United States including the Cedar Park/Austin area on September 13th and at the National Medal Honor Museum in the Dallas-Fort Worth area on September 12th. They expect over 5000 In attendance.

The 9/11 Heroes Run unites communities to honor the heroes of 9/11 and the service members who stepped up in the wars that followed. This event fulfills the promise we made over 20 years ago to never forget.

The 9/11 Heroes run was started by the Travis Manion Foundation in 2007, following the death of Marine 1st Lt. Travis Manion in Iraq. After his death, his family was inspired by his selflessness and his visits to the first responders at Rescue One in NYC, deciding to honor his commitment to serve by uniting communities to remember the heroes of 9/11 and the service members and first responders who have served since. The Travis Manion Foundation first began in Lt. Manion’s hometown in Doylestown, PA with 300 runners. The 9/11 Heroes run now has more than 70 race locations around the world.

Before his death, 1st Lt. Manion visited the site of the former Rescue One firehouse in New York City, an experience that deepened his understanding and commitment to his mission.
